Global, independent commodity trading company covering oil, gas and power markets has an exciting opportunity for a Trading Analyst to support the fundamental analysis team within their Oil Trading business in providing market leading proprietary research covering crude oil physical and paper markets.

The role is likely to evolve over time, but you will start as a junior market/risk analyst supporting both the trading teams and risk function.

*Collate information from multiple sources relating to the refineries globally daily
*Discuss with representatives from external sources to establish view on which source has correct information
*Timely input/upload of data into the company’s database and maintain the current company view
*Highlight meaningful changes to trading teams
*Liaise with traders and analysts across various desks for information and intelligence sharing
*Support the risk function in the production of exposure, PNL and VAR reports
*Help to build risk metrics tools such as stress testing and PAR analysis
*Work with programmers to improve efficiency of database user interface

The Candidate:

*Comfortable with large volumes of data and can spot trends in the data
*Numerate and analytical mindset
*Attention to detail and pride in work done well
*Can handle repetitive work as they can see the eventual benefit of the work
*Moderate to advanced MS Excel ability (VBA, SQL, Tableau skills a big plus)
*Comfortable with uncertainty and potentially conflicting sources of data
*Multi-tasker/flexible and must be able to work under pressure and manage quickly changing workload at times
*An understanding of the relationships between operation of refinery units welcome but not essential
*An understanding of options risk exposure (greeks) is beneficial.
