A World Lead Global Energy Company has an exciting opportunity for a Product Manager with Commodity Trading experience to join their new team who are taking a product-centric view of IT Delivery and help the business with the following:

– Cross Desk Data Ingestion & Analytics: leveraging data for visualisations and analytics, supporting front, middle, and back office teams
– Self-service enablement: Assisting teams with self-service data and analytics journey – provide advice, templates, design advice. Based on the principle that “self-service”/DIY development will not be possible completely independently – will need some IT support to build that new skill set and capability within the commercial teams
– Developing a framework for quant model deployment

The successful candidate will have significant experience leading product delivery teams in fast moving environments, perhaps with a mix of enterprise and startup experiences. Time spent building analytical products in a commodities trading environment is also required. Experience with energy products (power/gas/carbon/environmental products) would help a strong candidate stand out.

About the Role:

As the Product Manager, you will be accountable for ensuring realising the business vision of data-driven market analysis and operations. You will:
– Help define the business vision in terms of product KPIs, driving delivery towards optimising these KPIs, and take accountability for the commercial and technical performance of the product as measured through these KPIs
– Ensure that business value is delivered each increment by partnering closely with the Product Owner to generate the Product Vision, roadmap, and strategy
– Work closely with a Technical Lead to direct delivery of the product, taking ultimate accountability for ensuring that the product is fit for purpose and functionally sound (“right features at the right time”), applying agile delivery practices
– Proactively manage the formation, evolution and succession planning of the cross-functional product team, collaborating with IT Engineering to build and maintain an effective team with the right skills and behaviours
– Build a strong culture of collaborative development and engagement with the Product Owner and Product Team to execute relentless prioritisation, maintaining focus on value, whilst ensuring secure, reliable and efficient operations for the product, aligned with product roadmap objectives
– Ensure the product forms a valuable part of the wider environment by ensuring alignment with the wider product teams, IT Strategy, Enterprise IT standards and the IT Management and the rest of the Natural Team
– Close monitoring of all delivery aspects (Budget/Resources/Stakeholders/Governance) associated to the development and operation of the product
– Maintain product investment and delivery hygiene (cost, compliance, IRM/security, and resource management)

About you:

– Business domain knowledge – required
– Strong knowledge of trading and market drivers for power commodities (gas, power, and environmental products), including the importance of fundamentals (supply/demand/capacity/inventory/prices/trades/etc.) in market price movements
– Strong knowledge of fundamental modelling and curve trading, including the use of statistical analysis in predictive models for supply/demand and price forecasting
– Business domain knowledge – desirable
– Operational Risk (e.g. Cashflow to date, Scorecard to Financial, PnL, Inventory tracking)
– Market Risk (e.g. Daily VaR, Historic VAR Comparison, Stress Scenario Tests, etc.)
– Credit Risk (e.g. Credit Concentration/Diversification, Historic & Projected Credit Returns)
– Liquidity Risk (e.g. Margin-at-Risk)
– Agile and Lean practices
– Must have 5+ years experience as an agile practitioner across multiple methodologies (scrum, Kanban, XD) and with at least one scaling framework
– Able to identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use
– Able to help teams to manage and visualise outcomes
– Communicating between the technical and non-technical
– Able to listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders and interpret them
– Able to manage stakeholders’ expectations and be flexible, is capable of proactive and reactive communication
– Facilitates difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders
– Able to facilitate the delivery flow of a team, managing the pace and tempo
– Able to actively address internal and external risks, issues and dependencies including where ownership exists outside the team
– Able to identify and challenge organisational processes of increasing complexity and those processes that are unnecessarily complicated
– Able to add value and can coach the organisation to inspect and adapt processes. Guides teams through the implementation of a new process
