Client Case Study

We have been supplying highly talented individuals to our Client for nearly 40 years.

Working closely with the procurement and resourcing teams based in London, Poland, Malaysia and the US, over 3000 new resources have been successfully and professionally on-boarded. Many work on a direct basis but we also manage around 100 third-party non-PSL suppliers that are vital within the Supply Chain. This ensures that specialist, niche consultancies can supply highly sought after individuals who are not readily available in the marketplace. This provides a fast and reliable mechanism for on-boarding scarce skills quickly and compliantly whenever the need arises.

Payrolling also provides a fast and reliable mechanism for onboarding contractors who have worked previously for this Energy Super Major when they need to return for new challenges. Through a close partnership with internal recruiters and talent acquisition specialists, it is also possible to engage quickly and professionally with resources that have been identified directly and with those that come from internal referrals and recommendations

2018

As the industry expands, so does our range of opportunities and Placement portfolio. The technology ventures team of a global, world-leading energy company had been pioneering the creation of a new digital venture, investing in technologies to develop digital and connectivity-based solutions for customers, working alongside a global consultancy to deliver this model. Eaglecliff Recruitment were introduced to this new digital venture as the payroll partner to help on-board new resources. This relationship quickly developed into being both the UK payroll partner and a valued PSL supplier for IT contractors and digital marketing contractors as well. A structured PSL was formed within the digital team with the introduction of sensible mark-ups standardised across the supply chain. Prior to this, there had been very little or no structure in place and substantial savings were achieved through these new initiatives.

2015

Once again the Eaglecliff payrolling contract with a world-leading energy company is renewed for a further three years. This incorporates a new initiative that revolves around the introduction of a “Sliding Scale” for third-party agencies which would save an additional £1m in supplier costs. This “Sliding Scale” was based upon a three-year term, during which the third-party agency would need to agree to a further reduction in mark-up at the end of each 12 month period of any resource being on assignment. Although initially challenging to introduce, after the first 12 months all but one of the initial third-party agencies had agreed to the new terms, which could then be introduced into the contracts accordingly.

The task was to identify a wide range of resources who were contracted as a sole trader within the organisation and to liaise with each of the resources – around 90 of them – and to ensure compliance with statutory legislation through the development of personal service companies or through a PAYE mechanism that needed to be established. From the initial 90 resources that were identified as sole traders, 88 were successfully set up within the first three months in line with the new regulations.

Beacon Developer

The Background:

Our Client needed someone to help develop, support and maintain their Beacon Trading and Risk Management System framework utilised by both their front and back offices. The successful candidate needed strong Python experience as well as knowledge of the proprietary Beacon Dependency Graph and Glint.

The Challenge:

As well as the role being highly skilled, Candidates also needed to have awareness of the client’s unique TRM system. For our team too, it was a new system to learn with its own unique spec. We dedicated ourselves in learning all we could about it to help not just our understanding, but to assist the candidate’s understanding about the role.

The Result:

2 CVs were sent, with the successful Candidate screened and interviewed right away. The offer was then presented with 2 weeks of the initial role being given to us – once again emphasising our speed of turning Candidate into Placement.

Project Manager: Cyber Security for Trading & Supply

The Background:

Our Client needed a Project Manager to lead a cyber resilience project developing responses to a possible large scale cyber attack on the Trading and Supply floor. Significantly, it was not a technical role. Rather, it was business-facing. This meant the Candidate would coordinate with the IT cyber security team not on technically developing preventions, but on advising responses and recovery.

The Challenge:

This role was unique in that it required a non-technical individual what is typically a technically-focussed field. This meant a very targeted search was required. However, aside from technical roles, we also have a strong speciality in Project Management positions. We knew these roles tend to be more specific in what they cover, allowing the team to approach the search individualised criteria, quickening the process.

The Result:

2 CVs were sent the same day the job opened – with both going to interview and both being made offers. Overall, it took just under 2 weeks from job posting to Placement being made.

C++ Senior Algo Trading Software Engineer

The Background:

Our client needed a highly skilled experienced C++ Software Engineers for one of their leading development projects, poised to enhance their trading capabilities. The candidates also needed decent Python skills in addition to C++.

Within this project, the successful Candidates would be developing a range of trading components – including order placement, routing & management, connectivity to exchanges, pricing as well as integration with internal systems.

The Challenge:

This was a highly technical skillset: not only did we need someone with advanced C++, which is itself hard-to-find, we also needed someone with significant trading experience to apply these advanced requirements.

Our client came to us though knowing that with our industry access, we could quickly find a suitable Candidate regardless of their scarcity.

The Result:

5 CVs were sent which led to 3 interviews. 2 were placed and have made significant advancements to the project.

Change & Training Analyst: Finance

The Background:

Our Client needed a Change & Training Analyst to support the Finance Pillar Lead of their SAP S/4 Hana implementation project. This project involved the transferring of the old platform’s 20,000 users onto the S/4 Hana platform, as well as using a Digital Adoption Platform to train company’s global finance teams the financial functions of the new system. We received this role due to our excellent record in high-quality delivery to Change Management positions for our Client.

The Challenge

This role needed a Candidate who had an understanding of the S/4 Hana system in a financial, downstream context. They also had to have a proven record in leadership positions, with all the skills associated: strong communication, strategically minded, collaborative. Travel too was a major part of this role, with the platform covering 47 countries. We needed to find a Candidate who was comfortable with this.

The Result:

6 CVs were sent with 2 Candidates being offered Interviews. We guided our interviewees through the process, ensuring their preparation. In the end, our Placement was offered the role within one month of the job being posted.

Gas Market Risk Analyst

The Background

Our Client needed an experienced Gas Market Risk Analyst with at least 5 years’ experience. It was an LOB role meant to backfill other team members who would be focussing on an Endur migration project. The role itself was comprehensive, covering VaR, pnl process, stress testing and limits.

The Challenge:

Because this was a backfill role, we had to be very quick in finding suitable Candidates in order to fill this position as soon as possible.

They needed someone comfortable and confident in the Front Office; who had expert understanding of the European Gas Market and could make strong, accurate and independent decisions.

They also needed someone with equally as good communication skills, in order to effectively present and communicate risk assessments to the Risk Management team.

The Result:

We were able to successfully fill this role within the fast-paced timeframe. 9 CVs were sent, of which 3 were interviewed. All 3 received outstanding feedback, given the calibre of the role and of the Candidates we have available. Our Placement quickly adapted to the demands and the team environment.

Lab Technician

The Background:

Our Client needed to fulfil one Lab Technician role to join their oil products team, as part of their new venture in commodities production. The Client also needed Candidates with a strong background in Chemistry and Quality Control with previous experience working in the pharmaceutical sector. We received this role due to our strong relationship with the Client and our ability to handle a wide variety of roles outside of our main technical niche.

The Challenge:

This role was one of the most unique job types we have ever taken on. Firstly, it was located in Manchester – which is outside are usual remit of London. More significantly though, it was a wholly scientific role, something that we have rarely encountered before. This represented a fantastic opportunity to not only learn from, but to expand our reach capabilities and overall repertoire.

The Result:

We managed to fill this role within 2 weeks of receiving the job, sending our Candidate and the Offer being made. Our Placement loves the role, the work environment and has now gone Permanent.
